If you’re planning on studying at a university in an English-speaking country, you’ll need to develop strong Academic English skills to manage written assignments, complex reading, and academic discussions and presentations. Academic English is very different from general English - it requires specific study skills and formal tone that is not used in everyday conversations.

COURSE FOCUS

This course combines writing, reading, listening, and speaking to prepare international students (Intermediate or higher) for universities focusing on authentic academic texts and lectures.

  • academic reading and critical thinking - analyzing complex texts, identifying key information, research and referencing

  • academic writing - reports, essays and critical reviews with subject-specific vocabulary and advanced grammar

  • listening and speaking - identifying the most important information, debating and presentation skills

  • core academic principles : objectivity, precision, formality, clarity and cohesion
